Cosmic Daily Weather by Kelley Hunter
October 2015
Overview
The debates, arguments and the indecisions of Mercury retrograde continue into this month, though the Scales are already tipping one way and another. Many of us are of two minds. Those who are playing fair are winning points on the cosmic scale, if not in the legal system. The terms of the conversation are redefined when Mercury turns forward on the 9th, at the very beginning of Libra. Some of us have changed our minds, after researching, rethinking and talking things over (and over). Some negotiations have been intense, with more to come. Venus moves into Virgo on the 8th, joining Mars and Jupiter for some awesome displays from Nature and new developments in health and science fields. Pay attention to the wellbeing of your body, your personal temple of the spirit. This planetary trio comes into close alignment the last two weeks of the month, engineering effective responses to the situations at hand. Use this good energy and enjoy the results. Other juicy stuff includes the Sun moving into deep, dark Scorpio on the 23rd, right as Mercury in Libra interfaces with the Uranus-Pluto square. Radical developments necessitate action and meaningful, even life-changing conversations. Choices are made; votes are registered. The Messenger of the Gods spreads major headlines across the globe. Not everyone is happy with the news or the plan. The veils are thin, as October comes to a close, with Halloween, evoking invisible worlds and influences.
NEW MOON —October 12 in LIBRA
FULL MOON —October 27 in Scorpio-TAURUS
Thursday, October 1
A soft start to the month is suggested by a Void of Course Taurus Moon at 5:44am, opening the day with some level of dissatisfaction or even major grumpiness. We may be feeling a bit stuck in a rut, as in “I would rather be doing almost anything else today.” Some of us may be especially feeling the financial crunch. This sticky beginning gives way to busier moments under a Gemini Moon starting at 3:03pm, offering new options if we can open our minds. Still, we may rub up against a level of confrontation and limitation. Let it spur you on to realign priorities and take actical steps to move forward.
Friday, October 2
This is a busy day. Part of our job is to sort out the real news from the hype. Get a good early-bird start with your personal tuning up and tuning in practices. Then you’ll know when someone is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. People are not all on the same page today, so keep you vibe clean and clear. New ideas will inform upcoming decisions.
Saturday, October 3
A Void of Course Moon at 12:18pm gives us time to go back over things and think twice or thrice about issues, about who has said what, when and why. Sports contests may take a turn of momentum in favor of the team that’s behind. The Moon enters home-loving Cancer at 7:22pm, making for a good night to stay in and get cozy. Dinner with good friends or family makes it extra special.
Sunday, October 4
The Cancer Moon is weaving its personal webs today, pulling in the pieces needed to smooth out the way. Follow your flow as the day goes on. Don’t try for too much. Just cleaning your place could feel so good, as you get sorted out and ready for the week ahead. The evening hours contain some pressure. As the Moon plugs into Pluto in Capricorn, we may feel knocked out of complacency. Try not to foster arguments when you’re not really sure what you are feeling any way. There are be better ways to get the information you need. On the other hand, sometimes you do have to push for it. With Mercury retrograde, this may not be an effective moment to do so. Defenses are up. We clearly do need to make some changes. We get more clues tonight and tomorrow.
Monday, October 5
The Moon is Void of Course all day starting at 6:04am, jolted by a lightning bolt from Uranus that wakes us up. The early bird gets the worm, as they say. Feel the clean fresh start that you prepared for over the weekend and get up and out and do your thing. Carpe Diem, “seize the day,” is another good motto to apply. Overcome hesitancy and jump into the metaphorical waters. Do at least one thing that is new and different, to indicate to the Universe that you are with the Program. Anything could happen!
Tuesday, October 6
The Moon enters fiery Leo at 3:31am, stirring up our creative juices and building the confidence to move forward, slowly but surely. The inevitability of collective change is clearly indicated as the Libra Sun is impacted by Pluto’s transformational necessity for environmental cooperation. Earth is speaking loud and clear. By coercion or conversion, big business tries to stand in the way, but can’t ignore icebergs that take the unwieldy ship down. Remember the Titanic. What is the equivalent story for today? Don’t ignore such signals in your life. We can’t always force things to be our way.
Wednesday, October 7
Express your ideas in the proper spirit of cooperation and all is well. Today’s tendency is to welcome interesting initiatives for solutions to pressing concerns. The Moon is Void of Course as of 4:10pm. Take time for a soft celebration after a productive day of co-creative conversations and new agreements. We are on the verge of moving ahead, as several planetary shifts line up in the next couple of days. Aren’t you feeling ready?
Thursday, October 8
After a long and interesting retrograde cycle, Venus finally moves back into Virgo at 12:30pm, completing the whole circle that “she” began around June Solstice. Back again to the Gateway of the Sphinx, where Leo the Lion meets the Great Goddess Virgo, Venus moves into this earth sign of refinement and perfect proportion. What sphinx-like question have you been re-evaluating over this summer? Time to put this values clarification exercise into practice. Reset your priorities according to the emotional intelligence of Venus. Tune in to a precise Moon-Venus conjunction at 3:01pm for last notes on the cycle.
Friday, October 9
The Moon in Virgo is busy as a beaver, dancing with Neptune, Mars and Jupiter. Mercury turns to forward motion at 9:58am, at the Equinox point at the very beginning of Libra. This might feel like starting over in terms of choices that confront us. After considering various points of view, we are preparing to make some decisions—not hastily, but with careful judgment, and any necessary discussion or alerts to others. This very full day and week ends with Void of Course Moon at 5:12pm, just in time for happy hour at this significant crossroads. Are you feeling happy, perhaps even a sober kind of happy that is content, calm and at ease? The best decisions are made from this place.
Saturday, October 10
An all-day Void of Course Moon indicates a day to settle down and sort things out. We need it. Do what your intelligent body suggests, including exercise, a visit to a wellness center or spa, and time in Nature. Or just catch up with small stuff, so you can de-stress and allow your mind to quietly consider without arguing with itself.
Sunday, October 11
The Moon enters Libra at 3:46am, checking in with Mercury today, ready now to make some initial choices about how to move things forward. Conversations and dialogue are called for to check in and see how others are integrating the impact of these Venus and Mercury retrograde cycles. Some possibilities are clearly set aside as not worthwhile or useful. Some goodbyes are said. Tomorrow’s New Moon is a further reset button.
Monday, October 12
NEW MOON, 7:06pm CDT at 19 Libra 20
A mixed array of planetary dynamics makes for a pungent, salty but sweet, New Moon cycle. Uranus is particularly electrical, with lightning bolts that split trees and relationships. Earthquakes, possibly literal and certainly political, awaken public awareness to an unprecedented level of social change initiative. Compassion necessitates practical service to create new arrangements that have longterm impact on the way we live. Artistic imagery stimulates a high aesthetic and sets stylistic trends. The New Moon begins an extended Void of Course cycle that last well into tomorrow, giving us plenty of time to consider the implications of this powerful day and feel our way into the growing light of this Moon cycle.
Tuesday, October 13
The Moon is Void of Course all the way through the afternoon, moving into deep, dark Scorpio at 4:38pm. As we digest the impact of yesterday’s New Moon, we engage in some serious thinking and significant conversations. Further decisions become clear. We contemplate strategies to implement them. Cooperation is needed. A promising line-up of helpful planets is moving into position. This bodes well for progress over the next week and through the rest of the month.
Wednesday, October 14
A lot gets done today. We take things step by step and make significant inroads into projects by 7:58pm, when the Moon goes Void of Course. We are feeling good about how things are lining up. We’re on course to sustain the momentum tomorrow by working on the details, while keeping the main agenda in focus.
Thursday, October 15
Another all day Void of Course Moon keeps us on task, following up on yesterday’s promising activity. Many details easily fall in to place. We don’t have to try too hard. It is best not to push or force things.
Just by maintaining a positive attitude and continuing to put one foot in front of the other, we are in a good place, moving at a good pace, allowing the natural course of events to unfold.
Friday, October 16
The Moon enters goal-oriented Sagittarius at 4:18am. Get ready, get set: go! Keep the target in your view throughout the day. By evening, we have gotten so many ducks in a row that, finally, we may run out of steam and are ever-so-ready to call it quits. It is clearly time for a delightful TGIF break. An indulgent mood may lead to romance. For some the tendency to go a little overboard in addictive indulgences s too great a temptation. If that’s you, you’ll likely pay for it tomorrow.
Saturday, October 17
If you overdid it last night, it may take the morning to get on track. Was it worth it? Maybe, maybe not. Generally there is strong motivation for getting things in order, cleaning, filing, finishing up important tasks leftover from the week. Then use the day to get out and moving. Good technique and body smarts are winning ways in sports endeavors, with some weekend contests going into overtime. Restlessness and excitement build up into the afternoon. Inspiration strikes and surprises are pulled out of some hats. High energy tonight sends many out on the town or off on other adventures.
Sunday, October 18
The Moon is VoC as of 3:48am, but that doesn’t slow down the energizer bunny types that dance until dawn. Sunday isn’t the day off it used to be, so some folks will find their extra wind and keep on keeping on. The tone changes when the Moon enters Capricorn at 1:52pm. If you’ve been burning the candle at both ends, this Moon shift will seriously slow down the momentum. Take stock of where things stand, and consult your plans to see if they—and you—are on track. Can you be realistic while still being idealistic, keeping the positive goal in mind? So much can get done spurred on by this kind of motivation—clear vision and hands on the wheel.
Monday, October 19
A lot goes on today, with important conversations taking place. Open your listening ear, so you clearly hear key points rather than blocking them out. Other people may be seeing things differently than you. Their point of view can turn out to be quite useful, and may be necessary to consider in relation to your plans. We can approach turning points with ease when we are relaxed and in the flow, rather than tight and controlling. It may be best in the long run if things don’t go the way you wanted them to. What a concept! Seek and offer support and a helping hand. Attending to one thing at a time with awareness of changing priorities keeps us on track on what could otherwise be a challenging day.
Tuesday, October 20
With your feet on the ground and your eye on the goal, new developments are more likely to promote forward movement. Take moments as needed to maintain an efficient calm. Some people might throw a spoke into the works today, but that doesn’t have to upset you or halt your rhythm. A time-out might be called for when the Moon is Void of Course from 3:31pm to 8:38pm. No need to push the river, just step back. Deep breathing is very relaxing and improves our mental state. The Moon entering Aquarius will give us the perspective we need to re-engage. Tomorrow is another day, indeed.
Wednesday, October 21
Most of us are refreshed and ready for this highly social day, filled with meetings, interesting encounters and conversations, phone calls, internet and all. Information is circulating in multi-dimensions. Networking is the prime time activity, horizontal and vertical. The evening news may report on more positive stories than usual. If not, seek some out and send out your own. Let’s be Good News Bears. Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. are likely set records for the high level of buzz. New platforms are coming out every week, not to mention the audio buzz from podcasts and soundcloud activity, et.al. What wavelength are you on?
Thursday, October 22
The buzz in still on, likely ramped up by today’s exceptional developments. Much is good news, then later in the day quite profound and globe-changing reports come to light. The close alignment of the mythic threesome of Venus, Mars and Jupiter is quite an intimate dance, joined flower devas, devic fairies, dryads, nyaids and other various kingdoms of Nature, as well as belly dancers and other divine dancers. Let your body respond and dance along. “The Earth upon her celestial spindle winds her ecstasy-producing dance,” as poet Kathleen Raine says it.
The Moon starts Void of Course for less than an hour at 11:22pm.
SCORPIO, the SCORPION
Friday, October 23
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, you intense Scorpios.
The Moon enters sea-sign Pisces at 12:18am. Near high noon at 12:47pm, the Sun plunges into the powerful waterfalls of Scorpio. We can feel a reverberation of ecstasy still in the aethers. Be gentle with yourself and others today. Kindness is the today’s winning ticket to sublime moments that somehow elude the daily grind, imbuing mundane tasks with archetypal meaning. Go with the flow and allow some amazing influences to pervade the Earth realm.
Saturday, October 24
After the energetic tsunami yesterday, the Moon goes Void of Course early, at 6:18am, leaving us in an extraordinary state of mind. “Bring down the Moon,” as the witches know how, on a day when practical realities and a sense of service impells us into action. Maybe there really is a tsunami, or some such major event that claims our attention. It may be a moment that reveals the majesty of Nature. If you are really tuned in, you can feel it coming and meet it with a full heart. How do we know when we are taking on too much or sacrificing ourselves in an unhealthy ways? Is the cause that you are taking on yours or not yours? It’s hard to know just where to draw that line in such times as these.
Sunday, October 25
The Moon jumpstarts into Aries at 1:22am, revving up the engines as the day dawns. There is a most intriguing melange of planetary dynamics today that stirs the imagination, delights, surprises—and challenges. The great question to answer, in the midst of whatever you do today: what are you doing to do to bring your dreams into reality?
Note: Pay attention if you need to know that daylight time is ending in the British Isles. Time zones are crisscrossed constantly. The web has none.
Monday, October 26
A wake-up call takes some of us by surprise around 5:57am. Already the Moon goes Void of Course at 7:25am, leaving us with a lot of questions about what is going on. We likely feel the need to talk to someone, maybe several someones. Be aware that some conversations are likely to be at cross-purposes. Don’t let this overly dismay you. Maintain your own clarity the best to you can. Take what time you need to do so, consulting with your inner guidance.
Tuesday, October 27
FULL MOON, 7:05am CDT at 3 Scorpio-TAURUS
The Moon moves into earth sign Taurus at 1:07am, coming to fullness a few hours later. We are still enjoying the close trio of Jupiter, Venus and Mars and accompanying special effects of Nature. We can best tune in to its simple subtleties with our subliminal senses. There is a delicate, nuanced healing opportunity on this Moon, one that arises from the inside out. Trust the inherent wisdom of your body and listen to its messages, with no imposition of rationality or ignore-ance. Body workers are very busy today.
Wednesday, October 28
The Taurus Moon is deeply in synch with the lovely alignment in Virgo. As we appreciate the beauty, power and generosity of Nature in its uncanny variety, we are supported from a very deep place of connection. Imagine that roots grow down from your feet to the Earth’s core and then, like tree, feel the vital sap rises up through your trunk into the branching of consciousness that reaches out into the heavens. You are that tree. The heaven pours down blessings through you back into the Earth. Open to these divine currents and feel your strength and verve revitalized. The Void of Course Moon at 10:20am gives us the whole day to explore these currents of energy. How are you inspired to apply this energy into your daily activities?
Thursday, October 29
The Moon enters Gemini at 1:24am, already disseminating important information early in the morning. “Reality” may be in jeopardy by afternoon when we are distracted into a dreamtime that may, indeed, become the new normal. Take the temperature of how that would work in your life, without becoming divorced from your body. Maintain your grounding and remember to eat good, nourishing meals.
Friday, October 30
The Gemini Moon interfaces with so many planets today that we may be in a bit of a whirl, like contradancing. The Moon’s most important interface is with the triple conjunction in Virgo that has characterized so much of this month. Pagan-leaning practices particularly thrive amidst these earth-based teachings coming right from the source. The Gemini Moon invites us to articulate, cognate and communicate them in some way. If you have ever thought to communicate directly with Nature, this is an ideal time to do so. Animal communicators, shamans and others are doing just this. The lines are wide open, even after hours when the Moon goes Void of Course at 9:52pm.
Saturday, October 31
The Moon enters gentle Cancer at 4:09am for an All Hallows Eve best shared close to home with neighbors of good will. This is a special moment, one of the Celtic cross-quarter days that signal halftime in the seasonal calendar. We are now half way between fall and winter. Tonight the veils are thin and spirits are abroad. Hang out with the friendly ones.
Remember to set your clocks back before turning off the lights. Daylight Savings Time ends at 2am, November 1.
Personally, I find this bi-annual shift of the clock disruptive and would to abolish it if it came up for a vote. How about you?
