Cosmic Daily Weather – May 2022

By Bernadette Evans

The month of May is a busy one, with retrogrades and eclipses happening. To get the most of this month, spend some time looking within and deciding what direction you’d like to take. Mercury will station retrograde this month on May 10th and be retrograde until June 3rd. Mercury does rule communication so its possible for misunderstandings, texts or emails to disappear into the ethers, or technology breakdowns (back up your pictures or important documents). Its not to say it will definitely happen, just giving you a heads-up in case it does. The benefits of a Mercury retrograde is it can give you time to slow down. Re-visit your ideas, review certain aspects of your life. Everyone can benefit from re-evaluating and revising.

On May 15th there is a Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) at 25 degrees of Scorpio at 11:14 pm. It’s the second and final eclipse of this eclipse season. The first eclipse in this series was on April 30th at 10 degrees of Taurus. The Taurus Scorpio axis is concerned with how you make money, taxes, other people’s money (such as your partners) and what you value in life. Eclipses usually bring big changes; you won’t necessarily see them right away but things are happening. With this eclipse being in Scorpio, it could be emotionally intense. A relationship may have reached its conclusion, or its transforming into something else entirely. A job or how you generate income is changed. Depending on where the eclipse is in your own natal chart, and if its contacting a personal planet; will determine how strongly you’ll be effected by the eclipse and what areas of your life it will touch.

The New Moon is on May 30th at 9 degrees of Gemini. New Moons are about beginnings and Gemini is ruled by Mercury, who is all about communication. How are you communicating with others? Are you making an effort to call up friends? Mercury is retrograde, so remember to re-evaluate all your conversations and interactions. This would also be a great time to explore some local markets or garage sales. You may have fun and meet some new neighbors, while discovering hidden gems in your own backyard.

Enjoy the month of May and surfing the celestial waves.

The Moon takes about 28 days to complete its orbit through the twelve signs, staying approximately two and a half days in each sign. When we say the Moon is Void of Course (VoC), it means the moon makes no more major aspects to other planets before it leaves the sign its in. At these times, it can be difficult to get focused and accomplish a task. You may want to relax, meditate or do something where your focus is turned inward. Don’t try and get a new project off the ground when the moon is void. If you want to find out more about the void of course moon, check out moontracks.com.

The times below are listed in Central Daylight Time.

Sunday, May 1

When Venus sextiles Pluto, you want to have meaningful connections and engage in conversations that are important to you. Some of these relationships could feel constricting if one person is trying to wield control over another. The Moon/Saturn square emphasizes doing practical work or chores. Another possibility whenever these two planets get together, is you’re feeling down and not able to see things in a positive light. Try to shift your perspective. Moon in Taurus.

Monday, May 2

You express how you feel when the Moon conjoins Mercury. Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings, while also maintaining detachment. Be flexible and enjoy the ever-flowing stream of ideas. Venus enters the sign of Aries at 11:10 am. Moon VoC at 5:13 am until 5:47 am when it enters the sign of Gemini.

Tuesday, May 3

The Jupiter/Pluto sextile encourages you to take steps that could transform your life and maybe those around you. Your beliefs may be changing or expanding, to encompass a wider viewpoint. Opportunities could come out of nowhere, accept them and thank the Universe.

Wednesday, May 4

Your impulse is to seek out people or activities that are outside of what you normally gravitate to. When Mars sextile Uranus, you could be eager to begin a new project, maybe something with a new flair. Chance meetings with new acquaintances may be beneficial. Moon VoC at 3:37 pm until 6:05 pm when it enters the sign of Cancer.

Thursday, May 5

The Sun and Uranus are conjoin. The theme of looking for some excitement (which looks different for everyone) is present. It doesn’t have to hit you over the head and be extreme, but it could be a departure from what you’re used to. Spread your wings and venture outside your comfort zone. You may discover its fun to play and color outside the lines. You could feel the desire to rebel, shake things up, and you won’t know if you’re coming or going. Examine your inner motives and desires to see if you really need to rebel. Choose your direction wisely.

Friday, May 6

Communicating your feelings is highlighted when Mercury sextiles Venus. Spend time with those you love. Go to an art gallery or a concert with a friend. Its time to enjoy the finer things in life. You could be overcome with emotions while listening to a piece of music or looking at a painting. Emotions could be amplified or fuzzy, when the Moon trines Neptune. You’re unconsciously picking up on other people’s moods which affect you, so be conscious who you spend time with.

Saturday, May 7

You could feel excited and inspired, ready to go after what you want when the Sun sextiles Mars. There’s a sense of optimism combined with enthusiasm which can catapult you towards success. It does require making an effort. This is also a good time to participate in a sport or just move your body. Have fun playing! Moon VoC at 5:26 am until 6:50 am when it enters the sign of Leo.

Sunday, May 8

Happy Mother’s Day to Moms, Dads, and anyone else who supports and nurtures others. When the Moon squares Uranus, you may feel an inner restlessness. Whenever these two planets come together, there is often a desire for change. If it feels uncomfortable or chaotic, do something that will calm your nerves, such as going for a walk, or meditating. How you respond to the energy is up to you.  You or someone close to you, may be irritated and the Moon/Sun square is asking you to pay attention to whats happening in your relationship. Slow down, find out what the issue is and take the necessary steps to bring harmony and balance back to the partnership.

Monday, May 9

You may experience the Monday morning blues, when early in the morning, the Moon opposes Saturn. It could make you feel glum and want to be alone. Try not to get to down on yourself or anyone else, this feeling will lessen as the day progresses. The last aspect of the day is the Moon quincunx Jupiter. Whenever Jupiter is involved there’s expansion and usually fun, but something may not be sitting quite right with you. You should be enjoying yourself more or getting further ahead than you are, but for some reason you aren’t. Maybe you’re nervous about making a move or taking a chance. Make the necessary adjustments and keep moving forward. Moon VoC at 7:39 am until 5:53 pm when it enters the sign of Virgo.

Tuesday, May 10

When the Moon quincunx Venus you may feel your relationship is out of balance. Maybe one of you is giving more than the other. If you discuss how you both feel and make adjustments, it could help restore equilibrium. If single, you may be feeling adrift, experiencing a lack of self-love. Everyone has moments of self-doubt, times when you feel its not going to turn around. Find your own bliss by showing yourself some love. Jupiter enters the sign of Aries at 6:22 pm. Mercury stations Retrograde at 6:47 am.

Wednesday, May 11

The Moon opposes Mars early in the morning. You could feel annoyed or angry, be careful of taking it out on others. There’s a chance you’re having to defend yourself from another person’s rage. Try to stay calm and cool, maybe go for a walk. You could also use this energy to help someone else achieve their goals. Moon VoC at 11:00 pm.

Thursday, May 12

The Moon will oppose Venus. You want to engage with others but aren’t bothered if the conversations are easy or difficult. Its always better to talk about whats happening in your relationships rather than bury it. Your body/mind is craving comfort and you may find it in food, drink, tv, shopping or another vice. Be conscious as to why you’re indulging yourself. Moon enters the sign of Libra at 1:34 am.

Friday, May 13

There’s a desire for connection and stability when the Libra Moon trines Saturn in Aquarius. You’re able to focus on what needs to be done, and are not afraid of hard work. If you need advice, ask for help from an older friend or colleague: someone who is experienced, stable and has common sense.

Saturday, May 14

It may seem a little difficult to get your feelings and ideas across with the Moon/Mercury quincunx. Likewise, are you able to hear what others are saying? Don’t react impulsively. Just relax and breathe. Take all feelings and viewpoints into consideration. Moon VoC at 3:07 am until 5:34 am when it enters the sign of Scorpio.

Sunday, May 15

There’s a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 25 degrees of Scorpio at 11:14 pm. There’s an intensity to this lunar eclipse because its in the sign of Scorpio. The Moon, Sun and Saturn are forming a T-square with Saturn at the apex. All three planets are in fixed signs, suggesting being rigid in your thinking or stance. Is it possible you’re holding on to old ideas or dreams? If this fits, examine why you’re afraid of letting go of control. People often hold onto their point of view because they’re scared of what the world would look like if they no longer held that belief. Its like having the rug pulled out from under you. Its sudden, scary and you could get hurt. Issues of power-struggles, feeling constricted, may be at the forefront. What do you want and need? What is someone else saying they desire? Its scary to be vulnerable and let others in, you never know what will happen. You have to trust and have faith that they will have your back. So be kind to yourself and to others. Its love, sex, money, creativity, work, restrictions all balled into one…the usual themes of the Universe. Step away from drama and emotional manipulation. Look at your relationships or the situations from a higher perspective, if you can. This Lunar Eclipse could be a time of a powerful transformation.

Monday, May 16

When the Moon trines Jupiter in the morning, you feel optimistic and could be counting your blessings. You feel good and there’s a bounce in your step! The Moon/Mercury opposition occurs a few hours later. Maybe you feel stuck, unsure if you should pay more attention to your feelings or thoughts. Stop and observe both. Emotions and thoughts come and go. Moon VoC at 4:28 am until 6:50 am when it enters the sign of Sagittarius.

Tuesday, May 17

Late this evening the Moon will square Mars and Neptune. Its possible you’re feeling angry or confused about which direction to move. Don’t get drawn into a dispute; remove yourself from the situation or person. Be careful of a smooth talker who’s making empty promises. You don’t want to be rushed into a decision that you may regret later. Listen to your intuition and if the alarm bells are going off, back away. Take some time to be alone, relax and think about what you want. Moon VoC at 10:59 pm.

Wednesday, May 18

Are you a gambler? You want to pursue your dreams when Mars and Neptune are conjunct. Following your hearts desire is lovely, but I also want you to be realistic. If its something you’ve been preparing for and have researched it…go for it, if not, don’t gamble away your savings on a pipe dream. On another note, if you’re artistic, Mars and Neptune could inspire you to create something beautiful. One last thing…look after your health. Your energy may be lagging so take care of yourself. Moon enters the sign of Capricorn at 7:02 am.

Thursday, May 19

When Mercury sextiles Jupiter you could be revisiting previous ideas and reworking them. You’re planning for the future with optimism and expectancy. There’s the possibility you have no idea, and no plans, and wondering what is next in your future. It never hurts to do some investigating to discover what you really would like to do. Reading a book may suddenly inspire you to take up a new subject to study. You never know where it will lead.

Friday, May 20

The Sun enters the sign of Gemini at 8:23 pm. Happy Birthday to all the Gemini’s out there! You could be tempted to break out of your normal routine when the Moon is in Aquarius. Its fun to meet new people from various social circles, and hear different points of view. When the Moon sextiles Jupiter you can expand your vision by stepping back to see the big picture. You may receive some interesting insights. Moon VoC at 7:00 am until 7:53 am when it enters the sign of Aquarius.

Saturday, May 21

The Sun will conjoin Mercury in Gemini. Communication, sharing concepts and being curious about a million things is what really excites you. You’re interested in so much, when will you find the time to learn it all! Do try to slow down when talking with others, at least long enough to hear what they have to say. Communication is a two-way street.

Sunday, May 22

Now is the time to get to work on a project or whatever goal you have in mind. The Mars/Pluto sextile can support you if you’re clear and ready to take action. If a part of you is feeling held back or stuck, go within, try to understand and work on that piece, so you can move forward. Mercury retrogrades back into Taurus at 8:15 pm. Moon VoC at 2:19 am until 10:49 am when it enters the sign of Pisces.

Monday, May 23

Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends! The Sun/Jupiter sextile is a fun and exuberant energy. You feel positive and optimistic about life and your future. This aspect also supports group activities or getting together with friends. Sometimes your mouth can get ahead of your head and you blurt out something that will not go over well…take care.  There are always so many possibilities for every person and every aspect…here is one more (then I’m done), expand your horizons by reading up on a new topic, or taking a class.

Tuesday, May 24

There’s an opportunity for advancement in your finances and your relationships when Venus sextiles Saturn. To achieve the best results, a well thought out approach and research are necessary whenever investing. Be clear in your relationships about your boundaries and expectations; listen to what the other person needs. It should be mutually supportive and fun…let’s not forget fun! Mars enters the sign of Aries at 6:17 pm. Moon VoC at 4:33 pm until 4:39 pm when it enters the sign of Aries.

Wednesday, May 25

You may find your discussions have a serious or intense tone to them, when Mercury trines Pluto. You’re not interested in superficial conversations. Getting to the core of an issue may be easier if you enlist the help of a counsellor or astrologer. There’s a need to know and understand more, at a deep level.

Thursday, May 26

You’re interested in making moves, when the Moon conjuncts Venus. Whether those moves have to do with love, lust, or work, you completely give yourself over to the energy, its an all or nothing thing. You have energy and enthusiasm to create and make things happen. Harness the power of this energy, direct it and watch the changes materialize. Have fun! Moon VoC at 10:20 pm.

Friday, May 27

When Venus squares Pluto, tensions may bubble up to the surface. Issues around power and control will likely be at the forefront of the problem. Everyone wants to be valued and loved, but at what cost? What needs to change in your relationship? For the partnership to grow and flourish you’ll need to discuss what works for both of you. Watch out for any temptations or overindulging in activities that aren’t healthy for your body/mind/spirit. Moon enters the sign of Taurus at 1:22 am.

Saturday, May 28

Your subconscious may be taking you on a ride. Twists and turns, new trains of thought, visiting new places, and welcoming the unusual are all par for the course when the Moon conjuncts Uranus. Your moods can be as wild as the ride I described, which could lead to an unexpected outburst from you or someone else. Venus enters the sign of Taurus at 9:46 am.

Sunday, May 29

There’s an abundance of energy, confidence, and enthusiasm when Mars and Jupiter conjoin in Aries. You may be excited about a new venture, a budding relationship, or even a starting a new routine at the gym. Your hard work could be noticed by your boss. One caution when these two are together, is overdoing. Be careful of taking on too much and burning yourself out. Then it won’t feel fun anymore, and you could physically hurt yourself if you’re exhausted and not being careful. Moon VoC at 9:11 am until 12:23 pm when it enters the sign of Gemini.

Monday, May 30

Happy Memorial Day to all my American friends! There’s a New Moon at 9 degrees of Gemini at 6:30 am. Now would be a great time to start reading something you’ve always been curious about. Have fun and be open to lots of avenues of study. Its okay to start something (a book or a course) and if its not speaking to you, let it go. Reach out call a friend or a sibling you haven’t spoken with for awhile. Start a conversation, communication is crucial.

Tuesday, May 31

You may feel the desire to escape through daydreams, tv, alcohol or drugs. When the Moon squares Neptune its easy to float off, and if sensitive, receive psychic impressions. At the same time the Moon will trine Saturn. By using the dreaminess of Neptune and the containment of Saturn, you could create some amazing art, if you feel like it. Grab a pen and write, make a collage or vision board, play music, just have fun crafting. Moon VoC at 3:10 pm and void the rest of the day.
