Being a parent is one of the most important and challenging jobs in the world in my humble opinion. It requires your attention 24/7, and it lasts the rest of your life. Also, it can be very satisfying!

Our June issue features conscious parenting – focusing on fathers. There are fathers who have just started their families, and those who already had kids. Dr. John Duffy shares some insights on how to be a conscious father and what kids really want from parents. He writes, “To be a father is the greatest privilege any of us dads will ever experience. To be a positive male influence in the life of our sons and daughters, especially now, is crucial. And, it is decidedly not work. With the onslaught of information and influence that our anxious children are exposed to these days as well as the pressures of their social and academic lives, our children need fathers more than ever.” I cannot agree more with this statement.

I was raised by my father. My mom went to the US when I was 9 years old. One thing that I remember from my childhood was that my dad sent us to school at 7:45 a.m. and welcomed us when we got home. He made dinners for us every day, and it was the same all the time (chicken soup with potatoes), until I learned how to cook from my grandmother. Also, my father taught me what it means to trust and to be accountable. Once a week, he gave me money for bread, and I was in charge of going to the store every day to buy fresh bread for us. I liked this job a lot, because I could keep the change and feel like the richest kid at school. My dad really made sure that we got everything we needed when we needed it.

My whole family is now in the US. My dad reads every issue of Conscious Community Magazine, and I know that he is proud of me where I am.

As many of you know, parents wear MANY hats. Sometimes they need a boost of energy. If you are a busy parent, I highly recommend reading Janae Jean’s article about matcha tea and health benefits of it; Matcha for Mind, Body and Spirit. Did you know that matcha tea is a great source of vitamins C and A, reduces blood pressure, helps you eliminate free radicals from your body and may even stop the growth of cancer cells?! To read more about matcha tea and its benefits, go to page 25.

Also check out Betsy Bruns’ article Spring into Health with Seasonal Veggies and Exotic Spices, and try out her Eggless Egg salad recipe on page 37. It is full of proteins, minerals and vitamins. I tried this salad last year at our Christmas Party, and it is the best salad I have ever eaten! I highly recommend it!

As always, check out www.ConsciousCommunityMagazine.com regularly to see our latest content, including the entire podcast from our interview with noted writer and teacher Edith Hall, who shares her deep insights on how studying Aristotle’s ancient philosophy can help us all live more fulfilling lives in the modern world. Enjoy reading this month’s issue!

Happy Father’s Day!

The Best,
