Letting go of whatever is holding us back is essential if we want to invite in new perspectives and allow for radical peace in our lives. Peter Russell explains how most obstacles with which people have attachments are not actually things at all — it is all of the ideas we have attached to those things. By simply making the decision to reclaim our power from these obstacles, we can overcome them. Russell narrows down the art of letting go into three practical methods including accepting, acknowledging, cultivating awareness, and turning our fears into our friends.

 

Plant Teachers: Ayahuasca, Tobacco, and the Pursuit of Knowledge, by Jeremy Narby (New World Library, $18.99, Hardcover)

While the Western world views tobacco as a harmful and addictive substance, it is used medicinally by the people of the Amazon Rainforest. In fact, both tobacco and ayahuasca are used in the Amazon to treat various ailments of the body and mind and to help people find inspiration. In this book, Anthropologist, Jeremy Narby, shares conversations between himself and traditional healer, Rafael Chanchari Pizuri. Together, they explore the similarities between these two substances through various lenses — including anthropology, botany, biochemistry, spirituality, and philosophy.

 The Healing Power of Pleasure: Seven Medicines for Rediscovering the Innate Joy of Being, by Julia Paulette    Hollenbery (Findhorn Press, $18.99, Paperback)

In this step-by-step guidebook, Julia Paulette Hollenbery helps readers rediscover sensuality and delight in the ordinary. Hollenbery explains how underneath the stressed mind, there is an abundance of pleasure, power, and delight within our bodies — we must only allow ourselves to embrace it. She shares the seven spiritual medicines (some of which include relating, embodying, and slowing down) along with somatic exercises, breath practices, guided meditations, and journal prompts to go with each of those medicines. She combines science, spirituality, valuable insight, humor, and more to create a call to action for readers to inhabit the rich deliciousness within their lives.

 

The Afterlife Frequency: The Scientific Proof of Spiritual Contact and How That Awareness Will Change Your Life, by Mark Anthony (New World Library, $16.16, Paperback)

It is safe to say that faith and science don’t exactly see eye to eye when it comes to the afterlife. Mark Anthony explores the disconnect between both of these perspectives using true stories and science. Anthony elaborates on various spiritual phenomena including near-death experiences and spirit communication to show the real connection between physics, neuroscience, spirituality, and more. Not only does he explain the powerful healing potential of contact with the spirit world; he also presents his RAFT technique so that readers can begin to recognize contact with spirit in their own lives.

 

The Zenned Out Guide to Understanding Tarot: Your Handbook to Reading and Intuiting Tarot, by Cassie Uhl (Rock Point, $16.99, Hardcover)

 Regardless of where you are on your tarot journey, this book will help you strengthen your connection to your inner knowing and help you refine your intuitive gifts in order to use the messages from the tarot to improve your life. Cassie Uhl provides step-by-step guidance that will help you interpret messages from tarot cards. Uhl also explains to readers how to use these messages from the tarot to work in alignment with intentions.

 

 Rituals of the Soul: Using the 8 Ancient Principles of Yoga to Create a Modern & Meaningful Life, by Kori Hahn (New World Library, $16.95, Paperback) 

Kori Hahn has lived with and learned from spiritual teachers all around the world, Morocco and Mexico included. In this book, she shares much of the wisdom she acquired to help readers on their spiritual journey. Hahn creates modern practices using visualizations, meditations, journal prompts, and more in order to help make learning ancient principles of spirituality more attainable.
