Embracing Change – Awareness Frees; Acceptance Heals

By Angel Carlton

Whenever we experience any sort of unexpected change or unpredictable circumstance in our lives, it’s either shocking, surprising, or stops us in our tracks. Every time, life offers us a choice on how to respond. We either accept what’s happening, slip into denial, or avoid it all together, and keep white knuckling through life. If you choose to avoid the situation and keep sweeping it under the rug, don’t be surprised if it shows up again in another disappointing experience.

You can begin by creating awareness around the fact that these events happen for your good, that they are intentionally moving you from where you are in your life to where you were destined to be. Many people become complacent with being unhappy and miserable. It’s true! I was there myself. It was just easier to stay in a situation where I knew I wasn’t growing, because it would rock the boat too much, and rocking the boat creates waves which eventually impact others. This is why it’s vitally important to become consciously aware of the changes in your life, act accordingly so that it will have a positive impact, not only on your life, but also on the lives of everyone who will feel the effects of the ripple.

Perhaps the change you’re going through at this particular time is a loss, of either a job, a loved one’s passing, relationship, or just feeling lost. These are perfect opportunities for you to shift your life, and move it into that dream life you’ve always known deep down inside your soul. Perhaps you feel you took a wrong turn, made a poor choice or two, and that’s what got you to feeling like there’s more to life than what you’re experiencing. Regardless of what the change is, it’s time to accept, first, that it’s happening for a good reason, and second, that you’ve total control of the outcome.

With any change in life that occurs, whether by choice or by chance, it requires our full attention, in order to move through it with ease and grace. Otherwise, we’ll fight it, fear it, and forget it. You’ll see when you do this, it will appear down the road, and it won’t be any easier to deal with then. In fact, it may appear as anger, stress, or even violence, when those emotions of change are kept inside and are not properly dealt with. You’ll light up the lives of others when you ignite change with intention, awareness, and acceptance.

It’s time to acknowledge what’s happening in your life, and trust that it’s happening for your betterment. Change is not happening to you, it’s happening for you. Trust whatever it is you’re going through, and know it has a message, a life lesson, and is leading you to a greater purpose. You cannot identify the beauty of change until you face it and see it for what it is. You’ll need to take off the blinders in order to see the gift the life-altering event or circumstance has to deliver. There is some inner work involved. Are you willing to put in some effort so that you can fulfill your destiny? Are you willing to remove the blindfold of your past, and face some unhappy times, in order to create space for your ultimate happiness? Are you willing to face your past, in order to create your future? This takes courage. It takes perseverance, and it requires support, all of which you have within and around you. It’s time to face your greatest fears and unrevealed feelings. The time is now to bring them into the light, and welcome them into your life. Once you do this, they dissolve forever. After all, fear just wants to be seen. I invite you to do this worthwhile work, as I know the benefits. If I can do it, so can you. I believe in you. I truly do!

Once you know how to deal with change in a positive and productive way, you then become the pillar to help others deal with change. I am giving you permission to boldly step into that role, and know you have the capacity to inspire positive change in your circle of influence. It has to start with you; it has to start by clearing the heavy load of baggage you’ve been carrying. It’s time to tear down the barriers, and break through the blocks that have prevented you from greatness. I will help you heal those aspects of your life, so that you may begin again, a new life that inspires love, laughter, and leadership.
