When someone is physically ill they typically strive first to overcome their condition, so that they can continue on with their lives. In this book Marianne Clyde ponders the question: Why as a society do we agree it is okay to seek treatment for physical ailments, but when the illness is mental or emotional in nature we have little compassion or understanding for those who need time to recover? She argues that if we were to address these maladies first, it would directly result in a more positive outlook in the office and better job performance.
